Fire Station!

First I want to say, our class was so well behaved! I could not of asked for them to have been any better. I am so proud of them. We learned so many things and had a blast! I hope you all enjoyed the treat bag they received from the fire fighters. Have a wonderful weekend and be proud of your child, cause they are amazing!

We went inside and toured the brand new fire station!

The fire fighters showed us all around the trucks! We got to see the hoses, all the tools, their equipment that they wear during a fire, and lots of other things.

We even got to hear the sirens!

The tires are bigger than some of our kids!

Fire Safety Week!

We have learned lots of new and important fire safety information this week. We have practiced Stop Drop and Roll, we learned several new vocabulary words (Hydrant, Extinguisher, Detector, Alarm), how to use 911, we compared Hot and Cold things, and the children came up with words that start with F for fire! They have done so well this week! A police officer came to visit on Wednesday, our class was the BEST behaved out of 4! I was so proud of them! Don't forget we will be ending our fire safety unit at the Fire Station tomorrow! The children should have lots to tell you all tomorrow afternoon. We asked for everyone to wear a red shirt.

Pizza Week!

Our Pizza unit began today! We made pizza dough, made paper plate pizzas, sang pizza songs and read pizza books! Our Pre-K Pizzeria opened in Home Living Center. The children had such a good time today. They can take orders, make pizza and deliver it. If you have any old spatulas that you would be willing to donate to our room, we would appreciate it. The children were flipping the pizzas over in the Kitchen area and we have several games that require you to flip the card over.
Please don't forget to send your family picture in!

Nursery Rhymes

We are talking about Nursery Rhymes this week. Yesterday we did Hey Diddle Diddle. The children made patterned hats that they wore home. This morning almost the whole class could read the rhyme using picture points. Ask them to tell it to you at home. Today we foucused on Itsy Bitsy Spider. We sang the song using our hands, we drew, colored, cut and pasted three sized spiders and put them into size order (Large Medium Small), some of the children made a spider web with marble paint *paper laying down in flat box, rock it back and forth to spread the paint* they got to rock the box as far as they could count out loud. It was a very busy and fun day.

Please don't forget to send in your family picture if you haven't done so!

Our Week

I wanted to say Thank You to all the parents for your understanding this week with Open House being cancelled. It has been very hard on us up here this week. Mrs. Lowe was a huge part of our school, and we will miss her very much. As soon as we know about the updated Open House I will let you all know.

This week we talked about the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. We will continue to cover this book and do activities centered around letters. You can go online (www.youtube.com) and watch the story. Type in Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and a video will come up that we have been watching. Please help us to reinforce the knowledge of the letters in their first name. We have focused mainly on the first letter in their names. Most of the students are writing their names very well. *Always encourage them to use One capital letter at the beginning and the rest lower case*

Don't forget about Impact Aid forms. If we have not called you your form is correct and we thank you! Have a WONDERFUL long weekend and be safe!

Pink Day!

Yesterday for Pink day we read several fun books about the color Pink, we painted with "salt paint", used pink play dough, used letter stamps and pink ink, and had a sensory experience with pink shaving cream! The children really seemed to have a good time yesterday! Again thank you for the participation with color week!

Tasting New Things

Last week we tasted lemons for yellow day and pickles for green day! Lemon tasting was very entertaining! For green day the students got to taste a sweet pickle and a dill pickle, then they placed their name card on a graph that said sweet and sour. I hope you all will come to Open House on the 30th to see our charts!

Red Day!

Red Day went well! We did lots of things centered around red. We did our daily news in a red marker. Most everyone wore their red clothes, we introduced sorting by color, we starting using stamps with red ink, some of us made a red Tye-dye coffee filter with red markers and water. We thought of several things that were red and made a chart.

Our First Full Week of Pre-K!

This week we have been learning how to use our classroom materials properly. The students have been learning how to play with the toys that are on the shelves as well as clean them up correctly. We are making our classroom rules together. This is always a fun activity for the children. We talk about manners and then we decide together what our rules should be. We will also be taking a school tour to meet the staff that the children interact with everyday. We have been playing games to help the children learn how to walk in a line, and stay in their place. They have done such a good job! The are catching on quickly. I hope they are sharing all the fun things we are doing with you all. Next week is COLOR week! We will wear a different color clothing each day. Please allow your child to participate.
